6" lift on 37s or 38s - legal height in Texas

I'm looking to install a 6" lift and either 37s or 38s (38" ridge grapplers are actually cheaper than 37s, go figure) on my 2019 F250 CCSB 4x4. Somehow I started reading about lift laws and it appears that in my state (Texas) the only rules regarding the height of the headlights and tail lights. Wording on some sites says headlights can be no higher than 52" and some say no higher than 54" from the ground to center of headlight.

Assuming a 6" lift is going to bring the front end up exactly 6" and upgrading the stock 33" tires to 37s or 38s will add another 4 or 5" - I'd think I'd be right around the 52" mark. I'm not looking to make my truck a magnet for getting harassed by police officers and state troopers on the highway. Anyone ever get pulled over for lift height or am I overthinking this?

Going from a 33 diameter to a 38 only raises your truck 2-1/2”. You may not be as far off as you think.

Right... I was thinking 1:1 height increase for tire size in inches. In that case, I'd be under 50" from ground to center of headlight. Stock I'm sitting at 40-41".

I live in the Houston area and I never (knock on wood) have any issues with my truck being lifted or the headlights. I have a 6.5" lift in the front and 6" in the back sitting on 37" tires.

Thanks for the reply, Keno. Nice looking truck! My new one is also white. Would you be willing to measure from the center of your headlights to the ground for me?

Thanks!

Thanks, TXSD and yes I will measure the headlights later this evening and send them to you. What lift are you considering?

Interesting. My stock truck with 33s is 40" to the center of the headlights. I wonder how yours is onl.y 2 & 1/2" higher with 6.5" lift and 37s... I don't have heavy service springs or plow setup... 6.7 Diesel

What part of the great state are you in that has you worried about getting in trouble? Big lifts (6-8) with big tires (38s or 40s) are a dime a dozen around here in the DFW area. Nobody cares, cops don't mess with them.

Bk39,

I'm in the North Houston area. That's kind of what I was thinking. I just wanted to see where I stood on the textbook law/limitations in case I ever got questioned or hassled about it. This will be the tallest truck I've ever owned...

My bad TXSD I didn't proofread what I wrote. The measurement from the ground to the center is roughly 49 1/2”. My apologies on the miss information earlier.

Thanks keyno, that's about where I thought it would be. Appreciate it. As far as Texas law this is well within legal limits.
