Greetings, everybody! I have been a user for a couple of months, and now I want to get started enjoying the benefits. I have a 74 F250 that I am converting to 4x4 using F150&250 parts. What a pain, but I am too far into it to turn around. A little about it, built 300, t18, dana 44&60, going to be green. Started the body work about a week ago. I am currently both a fulltime student and work 40hrs a week. Between the two, I don't get much time to work on it, just weekends. Because of that, it has been going on for about 2.5 years. Anyway, enjoy. Ted
thanks. I will get some more. I took a bunch with a regular camera, and have yet to scan them. I will do it someday. It has been a blast! Very slow going, but then, I bought it to restore something, and enjoy the process, not just get it done. I have been filling the holes in the doors with an arc welder. What a chore. I wish I had a mig, but arc is what I got, so that's what I use. More pics will be coming.
Fisher and Ray, I just put in some more pics. went out this morning and took them. Just a few shots of the undercarriage and axles. Its not perfect, but I am still pretty happy with the results. Anyway, hope everyone enjoys them. Ted
ps, keep taking pics of your stuff too. I love looking at restorations, no matter what vehicle it is.
Wow, thats awesome, it really is. Converting to 4wd from TTB 2wd is hard work.
Even the RustOleum body work looks good, I wouldn't say that it looks the best, or that you are saving money going that route, but it looks a lot better than the rattle can jobs I see around here, covering the rust with primer and leaving it.
I have found that certain brands of paint are better than others, Rust O leum is one of the best.
Thanks, matt. I know the rustoleum job is no show quality paint, but for what I need it for and my budget, it works. I realize I may not save that much, but I wanted to do it all on this truck, and my budget doesn't support a full blown paint job. I have extra body parts, and with rustoleum I can paint them a few dollars at a time. This is what I mean by in my budget. I expect to have several hundred dollars in it, and for that I could get a cheap paint job, but then I wouldn't be the one doing it!
I posted a little in the bodywork forum. What the pictures hide is some dull spots in the clear. What I did was strip down to bare metal and start over, just like a paint shop would. The only difference is that my gun comes in a little can, not at the end of the hose
You will definetly have the most unique truck out there. Most people give up on the 4x4 conversion, its difficult and without good welding skills, its expensive. I don't have your enthusiasm, my carb is giving me fits and I can't figure it out, maybe they should include some instructions with the rebuild kits.
Ok, Matt. I lied. I didn't do the carb rebuild. I took it to a well refered carb guy. It was worth the money to me. The only other carb work I have ever done was on my 1974 Suzuki TS185, and I never got it exactly right.
