Wink It's been a long 6 months

But I guess I'm going back to work tomorrow.

Got the call Friday late afternoon to be in the office 9 am tomorrow morning with all my equipment. I be happy to get back to work. I've been going crazy sitting on my keister doing nothing. My unemployment ran out a few weeks ago & the bank account is getting a little low for comfort.

Hell, they might just fire me tomorrow, I don't know. But I think if they were going to do that they would have said something 2 months ago at our anual mandatory safety meeting.

I hear ya, I'm also starting back to work tomorrow after being laid off on Nov. 10 of last year. I still have to call my forman to find out where and when, but I'm guessing somewhere west of the metro area (Mpls./St. Paul) by 7:00 am. Fortunately, unenployment hasn't run out, but was getting close. BTW, who do you work for?

Tri-City Paving out of Little Falls. I know they have called alot of other drivers back & since I'm the low man on the totem pole it puts me last.

I know a couple of our competitors started up a couple weeks ago, as to the extent of there work I don't know but I do have friends that work for them & they were getting off work rather early compared to normal road contruction hours.

I haven't heard of them, but they are a little out of my area. I'm going back to Valley Paving in Shakopee for my 3rd (and possibly last) summer, if I make it that far.

Yeah, normal construction hours are before sunrise to well after sunset, at least where I work.

They have the construction guys on I-10 just west of houston working 24/7 cept when the enviromental wackos are protesting, trying to get the freeway widened. Good luck and may your road be clear of little hondas and chebbys.

I have heard of Valley Paving. I was looking at other companies & I think I even I applied to them Along with one in Lakefield, MN & Fairmont, MN.
The only real reason I'm with Tri-City is because I was hired over the Phone.

Our biggest competitors around here are Baurly Brother & Anderson Brother. I might be working with Anderson Brothers come next season. Depends on how well I get paid this year.

Normally we start around 6 a.m & usually work till 7 or 8 pm, sometimes later depending on the job & where we are working at. I know we have a highway to finish in Walker, MN & then we started 7 miles in Hinckly, MN. We were only able to get 2 lifts on it & apparently it is getting 7 or 8 more (all swamp land) so I predict we will be there most of the summer.

I'm supposed to get a call from someone with Boeing today. In her words, she promised to call on Monday. Well, monday's here!

I've been out of work since 10/1 so right now it's been 7 months. That first job after grad school has been pretty elusive!

Have you ever heard of C.S. McCrossan? I'm pretty sure they where from MN. I worked on a road project here in NM for them about 6 years ago. The job took just over 2 years I worked just about 80hrs a week for the whole duration of the project.

Well it was a good day. Just got home about 10 minutes ago & I'm happy as all hell to be back to work again. I hate the damn Winters to where you get laid off because they don't beleive in road construction.

Apparently the odd hour of starting was because they couldn't register the trucks till 8 a.m. this morning When DMV opened). Then I couldn't find my truck. Turns out they let a new driver use it. I say he can keep it, it was peice of crap anyhow but it does have a new clutch in it. The truck I moved into today is practically brand new.

Then I sat around and listened to the rumours that were rollling around about me. The other drivers thought I wasn't coming back because I somehow picked up a DUI. I decided to ask them how I can do that since I don't drink.

Oh, I'm glad to be back to work. I'm sure the Novelty will wear of come Wednesday afternoon when I cross the 60 hour point but I'll keep trucking on.

Gossip is the best. Got to keep everyone wondering. I was just happy they were thinking about me, even though it was bad.

NMFORD,
I never had heard of that company, but I'm sure they are around. So many of them it is hard to keep track of the names.
