Keyless Entry Light

I assume that the keyless entry on my 97 limited is supposed to light up like all the other Ford keyless entry buttons I've seen. Anyone know what is the likely problem, and do the front door panels come off like the rear ones?
Thanks,
Quiller

When my 95 pad went dim, the dealer changed out the whole unit. Said no replacement bulbs available. Miniature bulbs are hard to come by for the explorer (e.g., headlight switch, fog light switch, defrost switch, etc.). The Ford parts people can't find them in their books or computers.

One user about 6 months ago posted photos of bulbs and actual part numbers. Do a search and you might get the part number and only have to replace a couple bucks in bulbs instead of more $$ for the keypad.

Not yet, that's why I was also asking about removing the door panel. I'm going to give it a shot this weekend. I'm guessing that the door panel comes off like the back ones. Couple of screws by the handle you close the door with and a bunch of those plastic push in friction plugs. Will post if successfull after the weekend. I'm also guessing I can figure the rest out, once inside the door.
