The other day my 1995 F250 (5.8L, RWD) did not start. After replacing the starter I realized that it was actually the neutral safety switch that was glitching out. (I just needed to move the shifter a bit and it started right up) The next few days the shifting mechanism only allowed my truck to go forward in the gears - P>R>N>D>1>2 - but couldnt get it back into park.
Now, I can only move the shifter in the forward direction, but when I try to bring it back in the reverse order - D>N>R>P - it slides all the way back to park, but is still in the position it was. So for me to put it back in park I slide under the truck and move the neutral safety switch back to the park/reverse position. I looked some forums up and replace the shifting tube/steering column bushing - it helped with the play, but it still wont shift back in the reverse order. Also, I have checked underneath the wheel and checked the 2 torx bolts as I know that has been a common issue but i didnt need to tighten them.
