bed liner and frame

i was just wondering today if i could put spray on bedliner on my frame and underside of my truck. it's getting closer to winter, and my truck has never seen one. it was owned by an older guy and he spent the winter in mrytle beach. help me i don't want my truck to go to hell.

The body will go before the frame. I think undercoating can actually make things worse by trapping moisture and not letting things breath.

a spray on bed liner will not work for the frame if you are serious about the frame. Powder coat the frame then you will be set. Any as for the bed be sure to remove all the rust if you have any proir to having it coated.

The biggest things to worry about are the rear fender arches and the rear cab corners. The fender arches have a partial fender liner that sand/salt get caught up on top of and it sits there wet and rusts through from the back. Some people have cut it out and fabricated some fender supports from steel stock so that the crap doesn't get trapped up there. For the cab corners I firmly believe they rust from the inside. If you unscrew the black threshhold under the doors you'll see a channel. It runs back the length of the cab and collects water, salt and sand and rusts from the inside out. When it gets past the inside wall it gets into that foam they put between the walls and soaks in there, and starts working on the outside layer. Front fenders are like the back but not quite as bad.
