P0476 from hell
The biggest question I have is, did your Ex ever [i
If so, then what was the last change made prior to it beginning to "run like crap"? Were there a whole bunch of changes (mods) done at one time? Has the motor had issues in the 35-50 mph range ever since it was "set up" with all the mods? Or did it run right for a while in the modified configuration, and then suddenly present this problem seemingly out of the blue? Or has the problem appeared gradually, innocuously at first, but eventually with increasing frequency or amplitude in stumble?
Other questions: have you checked the F6 card insertion connection to the PCM? Have you contacted DP Tuner?
This is not an EX it is a crew cab...
The truck has ran well with this configuration for about 18 months after dropping 14k on the rebuild of the original motor.
The problem actually started when I went to smog the truck in this wonderful state of California.
The codes I had been ignoring for the last 6 mo caused it to fail smog. I had noticed prior to this that the truck seemed to have lost a bit of power when towing my toy hauler.
Injector solenoids showed some open solenoids . I replaced them ( the solenoids) and codes went away except the p0476
Did the ebp clean the tube thing and broke the ebv solenoid trying to get it off . So replaced it with a new one. Replaced the CPS with the OEM dark gray one at the same time to eliminate it as a suspect and kept the old one as a back up.. Also replaced IDM
Removed the F6 card and cleaned the connection area and reinstalled. Called Jody and his assessment after reading pid log was that something was keeping the truck from building boost.
However .... He did also make the statement... Got to be injectors its always the injectors.... and I do not disbelieve that.
Pulled injectors today and I have a decision to make tomorrow ..... Do I send them to get flow tested for $250 plus shipping to Tennessee or just eat the cost of the 18 mo old stage 1 remans and order new alliant AC's from Clay at $249 ea?
several of the Injectors are fairly carbon ed up on the nozzles, Not sure if that is normal, and if not what causes some to be more carboned up than others.
We all use forums to help us figure stuff out , I have read posts that are 10 years old that have given pieces of a puzzle I needed to figure out a problem. Be a decent human being and post the resolution!
Glad I got that out.... Now as I am sure many who may have read this thread are going to say to themselves ..... its the injectors.... and you would be right.
Purchased new alliant AC injectors and the truck purrs .... Boost is back, now I really cant say I fully understand how a bad injector or injectors can cause low boost and I did my best to rule out any other suspect components before purchasing new injectors after having purchased remans a little over a year ago. But the words from Jody "It's the injectors , it's always the injectors" kept ringing in my head like the "build it and they will come" voice from field of dreams.... And the advice of many here that remans are the devil stopped me from having them flow tested at $250 plus shipping etc. So I bit the bullet and ordered the new ones from Riff raff which had the best deal by far, and glad I did truck drives smoother than it ever has.
Oh yeah and about the P0476 ..... It's still there and probably always will be.
Nothing wrong with the battery or charge system.
