Unhappy Excess Coolant use Orange Ford

2013 F350 6.7L Powerstroke,
Bought at 186k miles, now 191k miles. Miles put on within last 4 months.

Im new to diesel trucks and do not know a ton about. purchased the truck for my wife to haul horse. Bought the truck used, had it inspected and was given the "okay" by a diesel mechanic and he said it was a good looking truck.

Just had oil change and noticed that the coolant (Ford Orange) was low in the reservoir. Was told to watch and check the levels as it was below the "when cold" line.
Drove 120 miles (back and forth) to work one day, let the truck cool down and noticed that the coolant had gone down. No noticeable leaks. Any thoughts or common reasons for this problem? I could not find many threads on this topic. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Which cooling system? There is two and different known sources of leaks for each system. Let us know.

Check the radiator, look through the drivers side wheel well. The ends are plastic and tend to leak in that area.

Also the cap may need to be replaced, it might be leaking some out there. Fill it to the full line when cold.

I had a situation where the coolant in the reservoir would become low, with no noticeable leaks anywhere. After digging in and looking close I noticed the engine valley was wet. Reading around the most common cause for this appeared to be the turbo cooler line. So I decided to dig deeper.

After digging a bunch more, it turned out that two o-rings had gone bad on the heater core hose connection. If you are looking at the engine from the front of the truck, on the left of the intake, there is a metal tube coming up out of the engine valley to a hose connection.

I would check the sides of the radiator and in the engine valley.

I have a 2012 F350, for reference.

I believe it is the primary reservoir. It’s right by the drivers side near the rear of the engine

As suggested above, change the cap. They do go bad; cost about $10. I was losing coolant once with no signs of leaking; new cap and it stopped. Decided to replace the caps on all my vehicles.

I also believe there was a TSB for a coolant line in the valley around the turbo that would be replaced free of charge I had mine replaced probably about 4 years ago on my 2013
