82 oem auto trans?
hi guys:
need help please. would like to know the oem auto trans that was available for the 82 f100, I6. is it a good transmission? would it be a major undertaking to replace the manual with the oem trans......with a floor shift?
wonder if one could be found in the boneyards?
what do u think?

The C4 and C6 was offered then. I'd go with the C6 a much stronger tranny. As for swapping your manual Tranny for a auto is fairly easy. Just find a Good C6 behind any 80+ truck with a I6, 302 or 351w The bellhousing bolt patterns are the same. Better if you can find one with the same wheel base as yours (I.E SWB or LWB) That way you can get the Driveshaft for the auto Truck. You'll need the Tranny Crossmember and a Flex plate for your I6 and you'll be good to go.
