Going to the dark side ????
I may have lost my mind, but I am thinking of trading in the 2017 CCLB 6.2L for a diesel. !!
Lately the lure of the dark side is strong ... I find myself wearing a lot of black..... I digress
Big question for me is :
Should I stick with a CCLB, or should I go with a CCSB this time ?
I will be towing my 11,400 lb 5er. 5-6 times a year totaling about 2000 towing miles.
The truck is also my daily driver, about 15000 miles per year.
Towing range with a CCSB diesel with the 34 gal tank would be about the same as the CCLB 6.2l with the 48 gal tank.
Greater stability with the CCLb.
Greater maneuverability with the CCSB.
Much greater range with the CCLB diesel.
The extra length of the CCLB dos not bother me except when backing the 5er into a tight spot.
What do Ya-All think ??
Dually if you go much heavier (future proofing) or want the stability.
Very few complain about too much truck.
I really like the range that the 48 gallon tank gives me. I have no desire to add an aftermarket fuel tank, so the OEM 48 gallon tank is ideal for me.
My trailer has a GVWR of 11K. I'm towing in the mountains with almost every trip. The 6.7L engine is soooo awesome. Point it uphill and it just goes.
My prior truck had a short bed. Never again!
Those 2,000 miles during the year will increase, you'll see. We run around 10K a year with cross country trips.
For only 2K miles it is not a financial smart decision to move to the diesel from your current truck. The diesel in same exact conditions will not get 30% better fuel mileage, maybe 20% at the absolute most but more than likely around 12-15% better. Yes power and engine braking is amazing, towing is more relaxed and confident but not enough to justify the cost for that little usage.
If it’s just a want to get one and don’t care the cost, then get the 6.7 you won’t be disappointed. But to do it and try to justify the cost... you never will. I have one of each, 6.2 and 6.7 and the only reason I have the 6.7 is because I want one and am willing to pay the premium for it.

My current setup weighs in at 11400 lbs per a CAT scale. GCWR for my truck is 11500 LBS.
There are certainly times I would be a few hundred lbs over that, but nothing seriously over spec.
My current truck lacks a few options I would like such as the Ultimate trailer tow camera system, and the Extended running boards, and a few other minor things.
My wife and I have also discussed the possibility of a bigger 5vs in a few years.
I sometimes want some reserve acceleration capability when fully loaded, but the current truck does quite well with the current camper.
I am just working on the decision of do I really want it bad enough to pull the trigger.
Thanks for your comments, it helps me.

I meant to say 19500 lbs.
The combined rig actually weighs 19400 lbs 100 under the max.
I guess I should preview, before I hit submit !!!!!!
