So to activate high idle mode you have to turn the truck off, set parking brake, and turn back on? Is there no option to activate it while the truck is already running?

While the truck is running, make sure its in park and apply the park brake, this will activate the fast idle. And before you shut it off, make sure the park brake is on , so next time you start it, it will fast idle.

Sitting in my truck in S TX with 100+ degrees. Truck will idle normally for quite a while then ramp up to 1000 rpm on its own. Don't know what its doing but it does increase on its own. DPF is sitting at 70%. Parking brake doesn't affect it since I never use it. Engaging the regular brake brings idle back down to normal.
