In the process of upgrading my 67 F100 2wd 352 Cruise O matic to a 4 barrel.
So Far I have a Stock (C9ZE9425B) 4 barrel manifold , and am getting a Edelbrock AVS2, adding a 1" phenolic Gasket , was told by Summit to use a Lokar SK4000 kick down bracket and cable for linkage. Lokar said they do not make a cable to fit a Cruise O matic. Can anyone help me with info on a kick down linkage that will work on a Cruise O matic that will fit a Edelbrock. thanks
I'm just taking a shot in the dark, but it looks like the right part to hook your kickdown linkage. Edelbrocks site is kinda vague about things. It might take a call to them to get the right part, unless someone posts it here.
Freightrain That,s because like a lot of people in this world, They think that the sbc is the only engine to use for everything. well guess what it,s not. imo.
Edelbrock said call Lokar , I would like to go with linkage so I will prob make one using original for template
not suretrying to mount cable would be any better
thanks
The kickdown is a rod, it needs to be a rod. As you accelerate, it pushes back on the rod to rotate the arm on the transmission. Only newer vehicles had cable kickdowns that pull on the cable as you accelerate.
Holley offered a carb WITH a Ford kickdown just to make it easy.
Thanks for info I figured I use the Rod or make one just need to figure out how to connect to carb. I would like to stay with the NEW Edelbrock AVS2 , the 8 jets per barrel looks pretty impressive for atomizing the gas.
Saw a post on another site about this similar subject with a kickdown rod. It was mentioned about rotating the arm on the transmission so that it could be used to pull instead of push. That way a cable could be used. I'm not at all familiar with automatics, so I can't say it would work? Sounds plausible if the arm is reversible.
