'85 F-150. It originally came with a 5.8L/4bbl but now has a 5.0L/2bbl. I'd like to see some pictures of factory carb setups so I know how the cable, return springs etc. are SUPPOSED to be compared to what I'm working with. Thanks
The "factory" cable. It's the 31.25" one. You can see in the 3rd and 4th pictures how the cruise control "hookup" clips onto the ball-end.
23" replacement cable I picked up at NAPA (BK 6101444). The ball end is too small for the carb, and the "extension" piece a couple inches away from the ball joint is preventing me from installing the cruise control hookup. (Remember that the engine/carb isn't original)
When I initially ordered the cable from NAPA, the cable that came in was 23" long, but had a blunt end and larger diameter that wouldn't accept the cruise control hookup.
I'm thinking (hoping) that I can go to Ford and they'll offer a 23" cable with the correct linkage (ball) end.

Is my truck SUPPOSED to have this return spring? NO! ThisCOULDN'T be the reason I only have about an inch of pedal travel.
Another typical IDIOTIC LMC catalog application. This spring has NOTHING to do with brake travel nor is it a brake return spring. It's the accelerator pedal pivot spring.
No 1980/89 F100/350 or Bronco uses it, only Econoline (D5UZ-9C804-B) and Aerostar (E69Z-9C804-A).
Here's an Econoline pic, you can see the 9C804 spring attached to the pedal. If the spring breaks, the pedal pad flops around.
Thanks Bill. I knew what LMC was showing even if they didn't lol.
This is what I'm working with. The accelerator cable is not hooked up in these pictures, but the pedal travel is close to the same with or without the cable being hooked up.
*Also, please note that there is no return spring on the carb and part of the linkage just hangs there. *
