Just bought 81 F250 VIN # 1FTEF26G5BNA06760 for $400. Was wanting to know if anybody can decode the VIN #? It had 351 from factory & now it has a 300 6 cylinder.

ok thanks & was wanting to see if anybody might know why it will not start. It was running fine on way home an think blew head gasket lost all oil & antifreeze. The oil was coming from the push rod cover gasket & the antifreeze was coming from the coolant reservoir. After I got it towed home hit the key an nothing no sound nothing. I replaced the starter solenoid & starter an still nothing. The guy I got it off of said it was going through starter solenoids & the wiring that was there had cab lights wired to cb wired to dome light wires. Then there were 3 wires running from cab lights to 3 fuses in fuse box. I unhooked them hoping that would solve problem an still nothing. When I turn on the headlights nothing happens. I have pics of all the lose wires to see if someone can figure out what the problem is.
The picture below doesn't look correct. You should have a smaller wire under the large terminal that goes to the battery +. Where does that thick red wire under the small screw on the right side go?
Here's a diagram of your truck. You can see that "fuse link J" is a smaller wire coming off the large terminal that goes to the battery. If you follow this across to the right side, go down and you will see "fuse link L" feeds the headlight switch directly, not going to the fuse box. So that is a clue your problem is out in this area under the hood since your headlights do not work.
DaveF is right on the wires.
If me I would hit that engine bay with a power washer to get the mud off so you can see what you are doing.
I don't think you should have that many 30 amp fuses in the box. I would check the cover and see what should be installed and install the right sizes before you burn up what is left of the wiring.
I would also find out what that mess is just inside the door under the dash and that wire going up the door post?
If the wire nuts are on the right wires I would ditch them and use better connectors.
You have your work cut out good luck

BTW the open port on the carb can be plugged for now as it is a vacuum leak right now.
Also that wire coming off that thing (O2 sensor) on the EXH. pipe would get plugged into the harness to give feed back to the computer on how to adjust the carb.
I would not worry about it, what year is the truck?
That yellow wire near the brake booster is not used unless you have trailer lights or is it roof lights? but all trucks have it and is left open.
Found out the problem with it not starting & burning up starter solenoids is because the cab lights & cb radio was run into the dome light wiring & 3 wires from the cab lights were run into the fuse box. They also run 2 jumper wires from the cab lights into the starter solenoid wires. So when it got towed in the wires going into the starter solenoid came loose. Then when i unhooked all the wires from inside that went to the cob lights & cb that left the wires coming from the starter solenoid just sitting there by them self. So now I need to find out were the wires from the starter solenoid go into to get this thing to start again. An as far as the cab lights & fog lights they are going to be ran straight into the toggle switch & that will take care of the starter solenoid getting burned up like it was.

I am assuming you do not read wiring diagrams. Your diagram to get the wiring to the solenoid hooked up was in a previous post. Don't feel bad, lots of people look at the diagrams and they are greek to them and do not know where to start. But if you are going to do the wiring yourself, you are going to have to push through and start learning how to read the diagrams. We can lead you through it, just start asking questions about the diagram above in the previous post. And there are more if we need them.
