Post a pic of this “crease”
my 2018 f350 has a faint line across the hood from day one. I believe its from the factory stamping during manufacturing or glue. No way the hood creased from wind. Not a chance. A hood is constructed of 2 layers of metal with strong adhesives everywhere to prevent creasing, flopping, and flexing.
What your seeing is from the way the hood was constructed. Its where the bottom layer of the hood(the structural part) Is glued to the outer layer.
Aluminum is a tried and true material that has been used for 30+ years in the manufacturing of auto body panels.
Yes the hood flops around from wind. Its not bc its aluminum. Its from poor alignment, improperly adjusted bump stops, hood latch alignment, and the physical shape of the vehicle and its specific aerodynamic characteristics.
That “crease” u call it is not a crease from wind. Its the way its made. Everyone has this. Its like 3/4 of a rectangle shape. Like this |________| kind of shape. Mother nature doesnt create perfect square corners very often.
Post a pic of the same “crease” we all have thats not from wind please.
Yes way it formed in the wind as I am well aware of that factory crease and that is not it. I watched it form yesterday driving on I-70 through Missouri and Kansas and it is forward of the one you are describing. When I get back into town and get the winter garbage washed off, I will get a picture of it and post up
This has to be a first. I have heard of flexing but not permanent denting from wind.
Trust me, I was surprised when I saw it happening but there was nothing I could do to prevent it. The wife suggested I slow down from 78mph to 70 mph to see if it would quite but it didn't. The hood was flexing in multiple spots while I was on the highway. I took a suction cup to it late last night and it came mostly out. However, in the sun light, you can certainly see where it was.
Notice the other day doing about 75mph with a very strong head wind the same thing. Has anyone heard a buzzer going off when this happens? Guessing there is a door sensor or something? I could hear a strange electronic interference noise buzzing when the hood was doing this. Haven't been able to duplicate it again, but its not often that windy while im on the freeway.
My 2013 did it in strong winds and my 2019 has done it once. Like mentioned above it's the trim around the windshield.
My 2017 does the same thing. It seems to me the tri axles are the worst. When they pass me hauling a&* in the opposite direction that big wall of air they are pushing really makes my hood jump. The first time it happened I actually thought the hood was going to pop open. It gets my attention every time.
