Dog Barrier for some. Solved
Caveats: I have second row captain chairs and a refrigerator between them. If you didn't have a fridge or console, you'd need one of these.
This one fits like it was made for the Excursion. It would work just as well behind the first row bucket seats.
Please pardon my mess.
I suppose a cat could squeeze by the sides but nothing much bigger.
Anyway, maybe someone else will find this useful.
My dogs are large (70 to 90 pounds) and they haven't done any damage to it.
I also have one of these and it works great on my lifted Excursion, but the angle isn't as extreme as pictured in the Amazon listing because I rest it on my bumper. It works well with one of the barn doors open and the other one closed. My oldest dog went right up it and the others just followed; first try.
At first, the dogs were unhappy with the arrangement but they adjusted to looking out of the back window and the rear air really does keep them cool. I no longer feel the pressure to roll down the windows a little and there is no more dog hair on the back of my second row seats, or nail marks on the leather. Win win.
And, finally, on big days to the vet with the whole crew, when I need dogs in the second row area or I need two dog "zones," I did get a set of these and they work GREAT.
Your mileage may vary, but the combination of these three products with a Ford Cargo Cover I found on ebay,
really has made life a little better with a bunch of dogs. I'm not sure what that all adds up to, and don't want to know, but it is less than an average trip to the vet for our crew so I'm content. The setup should work equally well for actual travel with less than a full compliment of canines.
Cheers,
Charlie V
I went to the farm today and our half mile driveway is a real mess. 37 inches of rain this year on a steep driveway when I can't really attend to it isn't a pretty thing. Very bumpy ride up the hill. Nary a squeak or a rattle from the disturbing child stopper. I'm still super happy with it.
