tire pressure?

I have street tread commercial grade LRE (18") tires on my F350. When I tow, I air them to 80PSI. If you have LRE tires, how much air in them in normal driving (not towing/hauling? I did a search around the internet but found the answers were all over the place. The truck is rough with 80PSI when not pulling my 5ver.

I'm interested as well. The Tag on the door jam shows 55 front and 70 rear on my F250. But like you say, it rides rough. I also have a 1500 Chevy and a K5 blazer and I run between 30 and 35. I set them so that I get even tire wear across the tread. Granted they are lighter trucks, but still the pressure in the F250 seems high for daily driving.

The door tag references only the original tire make and size.

There are psi (Max/Min) reference charts for each tire make and size online.

For the same reason you mentioned, I run my tires at lower pressure when not towing or hauling.

Just found this. Tire pressure will depend on load. Look thur the table and find your tite size and you should be able to figure out what pressure you want to run.

I already was aware that the LRE tires on my truck are 80 PSI max pressure. Just wondering what others did for pressure as the 80 PSI when the truck isn't loaded makes for a harsh ride.

It depends alot on the type of ride that you prefer.

I keep mine at 72 psi all the time; harsher ride, but it doesn’t bother me. If you want a more comfortable ride, air them down. Just stay within the minimum specs, of course.

Unloaded somewhere between 50 and 55lbs will get you even tread wear. I run 55 lbs front and rear in my truck and I tow a 6.5k trailer with 950lbs tongue weight daily. The rears are still wearing slightly faster in the center.

Go weigh your truck. Look up your tires and find the psi needed to coordinate with the results of your truck weight. Add a percentage of you want to make sure you are not under inflated.

A lot of truck stops have scales. It's like $10. Keep the printout in the glove box.

I weighed mine with all the kids and a full tank of fuel.

I run 60 in front 50 in rear. 2013 f250 4wd crew 6 2. Running Toyo open country stock size.

I went and checked my registration for the weight last night for the same reason.

'01 F250 CCSB 4x4 with the V10. 6300 lbs. So with my 295/70R 17 tires, I can run as low as 30 PSI and still be good. 30 PSI gives a weight just over 2000 lbs. I doubt I'll go that low, maybe 35.
