I started pricing covers and foam for my seats in the EX. Just for materials, for both seats, it was around $1400. A few weeks ago I was driving my dads 2001 F250, which has about 70K on it, and his seats were really comfortable. So I got on the bay and found a pair of freshly recovered, (Ford) leather 250 seats. Power heated....the whole deal. Make the deal, get the seats, everything is good. Very comfy and very well put together. Im real happy with the purchase.
The issue I have is with the wiring. The drivers seat has all the same circuits and colors (had to change the pinout) but with one extra wire, white w/red. Has 12 volts with key on. Not sure what this is for. Everything works fine otherwise.
The passenger seat is another story. The EX seat was non power, just heated. But, I think there is an occupant sensor. There is a Bosch module in the seat and the wire colors are different at the body harness pigtail. The new seat does not have that module. Its also full power/heat. So, for now, I swapped the base and wiring from the ex seat to the new one so there would be no issues.
If anyone has the wire diagrams for each vehicle, I would appreciate it, or if you know how to wire this thing properly, let me know. thanks. Before After!
Looks great, and your old ones are still much better shape than many I've seen.
I agree, but the cushion was the biggest issue. Anything longer than a couple of hours on that seat and wow, the old sittin parts were not happy. I have several long trips in the next year or so and I want comfort. Im getting too old for pain. If Im going to be hurting while driving, it needs to be worth it; Cobra, GT40, Model A....that way all the senses are assaulted and its fun.
Just redid my driver seat , new foam and skins. Unfortunately the darker color is a bit lighter than the stock 16 year old stuff. Overall I'm happy looks and feels worlds better. Oh and like those tan seats you scored.I also disconnected the stock heated seats and added aftermarket heaters. They get hotter and stay on until you shut them off ,unlike the factory seats that think they know when you've had enough heat😉

Very nice. I have been wanting to do this for the wife's Excursion for a long time.
Do you happen to know if we can take an older seat frame, like from a 2000 MY Ex, and replace the foam and skins with a newer model seat with different pattern, like say from a 2002 MY Excursion?

Im not sure as I didnt do these seats and have never had any apart. Sorry.
I can tell you that the people I got mine from are in the OEM seat business and have tons of them. They restore/recover and sell. Top quality too. I happened to be in their neighborhood Saturday so I was able to pick mine up instead of ship. For what I paid for mine, it was worth it over the labor/time I would have spent redoing mine. The only issue I have, and I knew I would, is the wiring deal....but I think I found what I need to figure it out. Just have to take the pass seat out again.

Yeah, I didn't comment on the wiring because if I had, your tail lights would probably stop working. I suck at electrical.

What brand of heaters did you buy? Looking to put them in my f250.

I swapped Leather 2000 seats onto 2004 seat frames on my friends we rebuilt with my totaled '00. 4 bolts between the seat and the frame very easy to swap.
