Man, there is almost no clearance for access to the fan clutch. Would be nice if the compressor was up top like on the 7.3 I saw. Seems like I’m going to need to at least loosen the fan shroud? Anything else I’ll need to remove for those who have done this before?
Its tight space but can be done not pulling any other parts.
Just get the correct sized ratchet wrench and muscle your way up in that small space from underneath the front end.
Im a big guy so it can be done.
Holding the clutch was the hard part for me and it took a few attempts before i cracked it loose holding it in place with channel locks.
Not all my tools are Snap-on but the ones that are usually has a good reason.
1/4" drive swivel neck ratchet and a shallow 10mm socket.
Also, I activate the AC clutch using IDS or scanner to hold it for me.

Oooooh that 1/4” swivel neck ratchet is HOT! I’m gonna have to get one now!
I'm changing an injector and I have the CAC tube out of my way already, so I went in from the top. I also pulled the passenger battery to make it easier. I made my own clutch holding tool from a couple of short pieces I cut off an allen wrench welded to a piece of flat bar I had laying around from jeep projects. Spacing was about 1.30". The piece of flat bar I had was about 4', and I saw no good reason to cut it shorter for this, so 4' it was... Like the Ron "tater salad" White joke: I don't know how many of them it would taken to whip my A, but I knew how many they were going to use!"
Gap was about .050 before I started, and there was an .032 shim in there, so it came out and no shims went back in. It's not totally even, but it's like .014 on one side a .030 on the other as I spin it and check w/ feeler gauges. I bought a shim kit from Auto zone for $1 today that I ended up not using, but if I have any issues with the clutch not disengaging, I will. (Santech A/C Comp Clutch Installation Kit MT0986)

If you notice a difference in cooling please let us know! I’ll hopefully have a chance to do mine tomorrow.

I won't have the replacement injector until Friday or Monday, so you might beat me to it. I have a Civic for a daily driver, so fixing my truck is often a "take it apart, order parts, put it back together," in that order, kind of job.
So, it sucks due to lack of room, but...I did it. Didn’t loosen fan shroud, which I think would have made it easier but I’m lazy.
Anyway, my gap was .042 and when I measured the shim in there it was approx .032, I replaced it with an approx .014 shim to get the gap approx .022-.024. If you’re wondering why there’s so much “approx” in this post it’s because the battery on my good calipers was dead and I was using the plastic ones.
Anyway, started the truck and made sure the AC clutch was disengaged, wasn’t too tight of a gap. Turned on the AC and voila! Compressor kicked on.
As of right now not sure it’s colder than it was before. Will have to check it out over the next couple of days.
