Need help identifying Ford Flathead Industrial Engine.
Trying to get some info on Flathead V8 before I proceed with install. Pictures are attached. Tried to find some info on my own but no luck. Any info will be greatly appreciated!
That's a '48-'50 239 L-Head V8, mostly identical to what came in our trucks from 48-53, The water pump looks a little different than what came on our trucks, may just be the angle. It should have hardened valve seats.
That's very interesting. I've never seen a tag like that. Where on the engine is it located? It's hard to tell for sure in the photos, but the head looks to possibly be aluminum. Any idea what it was hooked to, or what it operated in its day? Any history you know? Stationary engines if running pumps could be used for hours on end and may be worn out pretty bad. If it was on a welding machine, for example, it would possibly have been used more intermittently and therefore not as hard.
Thanks for the info!!! No I do not have any further information on it. Want to swap it out for the 215 I currently have. Was also thinking of bolting a T5 to it.
T-5 is a good choice.
If going with a floor mount, shifter will be moved very much closer to the seat than stock 3 spd.
Just come straight up with stick, and then curve back over seat a bit, setting height location at your comfort in neutral.
Mine is out of Chevy S-10. Mustang shifter is too far back, will need mods.
