Hi all, I'm getting closer to sorting this truck out, replaced just about everything now.
I had a lot of sideways movement with the rotor arm on the dizzy shaft so I ordered a recon dizzy.
Rotor arm fitted the new dizzy fine due to a little metal spring clip on the new dizzy shaft. Kinda like a shim.
Went to swap out the dizzy and when I withdrew my old dizzy I've got the oil pump shaft connected to it.
The dizzy and oil pump rod are actually drilled and pinned together, the new dizzy has not got a pilot hole drilled so I didn't bother fitting it I just took the spring clip off the recon unit and fitted it to my old dizzy and no more rotor arm movement.
I still want to swap over the distributors as the Devon one is a lot cleaner and just wondered if this is common.
Definitely incorrect if it is a Y-Block. The distributor and oil pump drive shaft are not held together in any way.
He has a 223 I6, and the shaft should be attached to the dizzy. I've seen pictures on EvilBay showing the dizzy without but I think they are just generic photos. If it doesn't have a shaft attached I would return it.
