I have an '84 F150 2WD that i have been wanting to convert to 4x4 for a while... I now have the opportunity to pick up an '89 Bronco that has been wrecked pretty bad, however all of the suspension and axles are undamaged. I know that F150 to F150 parts are bolt in, My big question is, will these late 80's bronco parts bolt on to my old '84 F150? I don't want to bring home a paper weight if I don't have to, hopefully you gents have some input. Thanks!
AFAIK the front suspension on both should be the same. (if both were 4x4)
I'm hoping so, this is a solid deal on the Bronco donor. I've seen that the chassis were the same, similar and different lol! I'm hoping someone has used a late 80's or 87-91 front suspension in an 80-86. Ive owned them all but never had the two next to each other to compare real specifics.
You can use the Bronco. The brakes may be a little different, and some of the hub parts may be a little different than a 84 4x4 would have had. But you are going to bolt the complete axle in place, and that will fit. You will just have to remember to ask for brake parts for a 89 Bronco when you go to get parts for your 84 4x4.
Check the axle ratios, you may have to bolt in the Bronco rearend so they match front to rear. The Bronco may have some wedge pieces that tilt the nose of the rearend up. You do not want to use those in your pickup.
