Swapping beds

I’m in the process of restoring a 53 flareside bed. I’m hoping to swap this bed with what I have now which is a shortbed flareside from the late 70's (1976 from serial number C20,001 - 1977/79). I really want the slanted rails rather than the flat rails that are on my truck currently. I could use any advice from anyone who has done this before. I already know I’ll have an issue, because the PO of my truck welded metal to the end of the frame's side and extended it 3 inches to fit this bed on my 1960 F100.
