Hi folks. I'm new here. I have a 1994 F150 4x4 w/a 351. It's pretty sound, but right now the front 44 is leaking at the diff on the passenger side. It's not bad, but I'm trying to sell it, and it looks bad to any non-mechanically inclined person.
Anyone know how to fix this? Or how much a shop may charge?
That sounds nice and simple, but I've never pulled a shaft from my TTB before. Don't I need that special socket to get to the shaft? And then from there do I need a seal puller? I don't mean to sound like a newbie, but I've never worked on that TTB before, aside from installing the lift. It doesn't look very user-servicable. Thanks for the help
Its not really as bad as it looks . The first thing you need to do is get a repair manual to help you out with the details & torque specs . Youll need the socket to remove the axle nut & a sealer puller , both of those are relatively inexpensive . If you like detail with a repair manual Id recommend the Helm manuals . The only other snag you may run into is the spindle bolts , they are fine thread & they have to be very clean because of the high torque values needed to tighten them , if the nuts or bolts have any brake dust or dirt on them when you go to torque them they will strip . Once you get the right side brake , spindle & all those parts out of the way , you will be able to slide the axle out , pop the old seal out & tap in the new one .
