How much is too much for a 1955 F250?

Saw this on craigslist... nice truck but the price (20K) seems a bit too high to me, especially since it has been repainted.

https://kansascity.craigslist.org/ct...913919476.html

"Barn Find!!! This is a 1955 Ford F 250, Step Side, Original Survivor with only approximately 6,000 miles!! Has been in the barn for over 40 years. Has the original tires still holding air!! This is a V8, four speed. Has a Ford Flatbed on it and we have a proper step-side pickup bed that is in excellent condition. This truck was driven to this location in 1976 and drove like brand new!! The history or provenance of the truck is as follows..."

Consider this truck is for sale for much less (3K)... Obviously not a perfect comp., as it is a bigger truck, and doesn't have as many original parts... also looks to be a straight 6, but otherwise does looks to be in solid shape.

https://kansascity.craigslist.org/ct...922017712.html

"...This truck is very solid all the way around. Almost zero rust. Was last run a year ago, but I will get it fired up in the next few days. Hard to find one this straight. Hydraulic dump bed and clear title..."

Any thoughts?

$20,000 for that first not running truck. Run Forest Run!

I like that second truck for a $3K project … if you need a dump bed.

badger_hound;

This truck has been for sale for MONTHS. Well over priced and isn’t even running.

This truck would be a much better deal but like others have said it’s a dump bed. I’m not a wheel guy but you’d want to make sure the wheels are NOT widow makers. That would be a junk of change to fix before anything else.

What do you want your truck for? Cruising, using, or ???

Wear on a 6000 mile truck?

And it doesn't even have the hard to find F250 hood emblem on the driver's side.

Is the dump truck a F500 or F600?

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I'm not surprised at all that the F250 has been for sale for a while... as it has often been pointed out on this site, a truck is only worth what someone else is willing to pay!

It really seems like asking prices have shot up on these older work trucks over the past 5 years or so. Maybe it's just me, but I almost never see old survivor grain trucks or heavy duty farm trucks for sale at reasonable prices ($500-$3000) anymore. And COE's prices have really shot through the roof IMO. Most of the sellers don't seem to understand how low the demand is for these big old trucks, and how hard and expensive it is to rebuild them relative to smaller trucks and hot rods with ample aftermarket support.

BJ - Right now I'm window shopping, and trying to keep an eye on prices, until I clear out a few more projects of my own. At some point, I'd like to get a bigger truck, probably with a dumping bed. Mostly for joyriding, hardware store runs, parades, and so forth, but also it would be nice to have a truck that can haul a few tons of materials for my spring and fall landscaping projects.

Or haul home more truck projects. We encourage that here.

Trailers are cheap to rent!

Keep watching Craig’s List. Nice trucks show up fairly often. Don’t forget farm trucks where frequently stored in old sheds and barns, rarely driven extensively (low miles), and if grain trucks also fitted with dump beds. A farm is where Harrier’s came from.
