Check Coolant Additive

Hi all, just got this message for first time on signature truck (95000km).. Only had truck for a few months so this is first message for me.
I called 3 dealers to get a price on this coolant test and 2 of them knew nothing about it. They suggested I just reset the message..
The other shop was semi familiar with it but said 1.5 hours if all goes well so that's over $200
I live in central Alberta which is very possibly diesel capitol of Canada so this blows my mind that its not a common procedure.
I googled to see what others have paid for this and I get 30 to 50 USD.
  1. Has anyone in Canada had this service done and could you share what you paid?
  2. Has anyone ordered the two kits and done this themselves? (sounds easy as long as you get the right kits)
Cheers

The additive it's referring to is a SCA additive, which is what protects the engine against corrosion. This additive depletes over time and needs to be checked and recharged periodically. You can only recharge your coolant twice before it must be flushed.

There are test kits available to do it yourself and you can by the Motocraft Specialty Orange Engine Coolant Revitalizer.

Does anyone know the kit number for the 2015? Seems that there are more than a couple out there..
Cheers

Great place to look lol...Thanks for the bump.

Now...I stopped by the dealer and they dipped the main expansion tank with one strip. Coolant strength, contamination and nitrites if I remember correctly..
It read between 300-400 ppm nitrites. He didn't seem concerned. As far as I have read you don't want any nitrates.
Thoughts?

I think nitrates are part of the additives for the newer diesels. But that is going beyond the scope of my knowledge.
