I've been looking through parts catalogs, and there is two different models of fuel pumps depending on the year:
48-50
51-53
If the blocks are identical, how can there be two different pumps used? Does anyone know what the difference is?
Also it looks like rebuild kits are no longer widely available. A lot of sites are listing them as Out Of Stock.
Has anyone rebuilt theirs lately? Any advice on where to buy the rebuild kits?
I'd guess there may be confusion on 48 Cars, which still had the 59-series V8's vs trucks having the 8BA's from '48-on. Doesn't completely fit but??? My info is that all 8BA's used the same pump unless they had the dual-diaphragm pump with vacuum pump on top.
Is it for a 6 or 8 cyl? I bought a new pump from Dennis Carpenter a few months ago for my Flathead 6 no problem, not sure about the 8 cyl pumps.
However, there is a guy in FL that can rebuild it for you or get you the kit. Great dude, used him for my carb and water pump rebuilds. Very responsive and quick turnaround (if he isn't bouncing around to car shows this time of year).
