I'm still not sure you have many options other than more springs to take some of the load off the air bags and I don't know if it will prove helpful.

I would go to a spring shop and ask them to upgrade your spring pack. At over 40 years old they could be ready for replacement. The guys can help you with springs that could handle more weight. I did that on my 2011 and I didn’t upgrade the anti sway bar. Doing that will not increase the payload but will make the truck safer at higher camper weights.
