Sorry for the *** question. 2007 F250 XL
where is the BCM located and what does it look like? Maybe some one could post a pic? The BCM controls the cruise, right? Thanks in advance
Wrong. The speed control is built into the PCM. Your truck doesn't have a BCM.
I want to get my cruise control working.
You should probably provide more information if you want a focused response. If you ask the wrong question(s), you'll get answers that don't help much since no one around here can read your mind.
Thanks Alloro
after having my trans replaced because the radiator failed internally and flooded the trans with coolant, they had to take it to the dealer to reprogram the trans, they said they got a code for a bad body control module. I read it controls things like PW power windows, PDL, cruise and dome light and stuff. My XL has no power options. The cruise doesn't work, the dome doesn't turn on when I open the door, but it turns on after I turn off the truck, and I have "TBC Fault" on my odometer. So I'm hoping this BCM will get some of these things fixed. Funny thing is that this thing never had a TBC. The stock wiring is in tact and plugged into the back of the cubby hole.
I bought this with a Repaired title, but they didn't fix anything. I've already had to replace injectors, glowplugs and wiring, 4x4 module, locking hubs, wheel bearings and a bunch of other stuff.
i really don't wanna have to take this thing to the dealer. If I replace this thing am I still gonna have to take it to the dealer to reprogram it? They charged me $250 just to reprogram the trans.
Your truck has a GEM module not a BCM big difference.
2001 was the last model year that a Super Duty had a GEM module. Starting in the '02 MY, the functions that previously resided in the GEM module were redistributed to other modules or sub-assemblies.

Damn I really need my eyes checked, I thought the OP had a 01. I zoomed in and see it's a 2007 lol, you are correct no GEM in 2007.
Probably a "Salvage" title. That means that the insurance company totaled it for some reason and it was purchased and "repaired", then re-sold with the stained title. Was this a vehicle that was flooded in one of the big storms? The damage to the 4x4 module is clearly from water. If it was a flooded truck, you'd probably be better off pushing it back into the water and leaving it there.
I have no idea what that is in the photo in post #12. I've not seen anything like it before.
As far as the markings on the 4x4 control module, I can only assume that the component manufacturer/vendor used legacy terms in describing what it does since Ford did not use the term "GEM" in their service documentation for the post-2001 Super Duty F-series trucks.
The module you are looking for is probably the smart module behind the passenger kick panel. I am not sure about '07 but my '08 and '09 have one behind there. I know it controls interior lights and other functions including the park lever interlock. The module in the '09 did not work properly and the message display showed doors open, and would not let it shift out of park. Put the '08 module in and everything works fine. This is the module with all the fuses and wiring harnesses plugged into it. I know the '08 to '09 swap worked ok without any reprogramming. Not sure if reprogramming would normally be required though.
