I've got an autolite 1100 on my 64 223, and had some questions in regards to adjustment. I've seen multiple places talking about 3 places for adjustment - idle mixture, high idle, and low idle.
Unless I'm completely blind or my 1100 is different, all I see is a mixture screw. Am I missing something or is this all mine has? Even the diaphragm has a fixed push rod on it, not a set screw.
I've got a very faint white smoke coming out the exhaust with a slight fuel smell, so I'm hoping adjustments will correct that, and that it's not coolant I'm blowing. If youd like to see a video of how the motor is currently idling, check out my "223 valve tick" thread. Thanks
White smoke is water.
Black smoke is fuel.
Blue smoke is oil.
As to adjustments, you have only an idle speed adjustment, and an idle mixture adjustment.
The idle speed screw is in the top pic, it's the screw under the choke cam, with the spring 'round it.
Sounds good, thanks. I thought those were the only 2 adjustments I had, it must be another variation of the 1100 that I was seeing references to the 3 adjustments.
Right next to where my PCV connects back to the intake manifold, I have a 2nd port. Is this the proper place to connect a vacuum gauge for adjusting the idle mixture screw?

I'm good to go. I couldnt make my gauge connect to that hole, so I ended removing pcv hose and adapted it to fit there. Got the motor around 19 inHg at 650 rpm now.
