Just started up the new engine from Blueprint Engines today. When the timing is adjusted to where it runs properly, it will not shut off. I’m assuming it’s an issue with the fuel.
When the truck was put in the shop, it had about ¾ of a tank of regular 87 octane gas. The new engine from Blueprint needs 91 octane according to the information that came with it.
The mechanic who is working on the truck put four gallons of Turbo Blue 110 in the tank, which mixed with the regular 87 octane.
I believe we need to drain the tank and fill it up with 91 octane fuel, and then set the timing.
After talking to two other people who have similar engines in their vehicles, I'm feeling confident that once I drain the tank and fill it with some fresh 93 octane fuel, my issue will go away.
What is the timing set at? It should run fine with 87 octane, but in a high load situation and too much timing it will likely detonate(not good). Don't waste any more $8/gal fuel on it. Though it will smell good for a while.
It sounds more like some carb tuning issues with it running on.
I don't know what the specs of this motor is, but sounds like you need someone else working on it.
