Front caliper bolt

Front caliper bolt
I was putting my caliper bolts back in yesterday. I was trying to tighten one of them, and it never even felt like it grabbed. Somehow it got striped, not sure how. What can I do to fix it?

I had one caliper bolt that was stretched when I bought it.
I took it back and they gave me a new bolt.
From what I can See If the bolt is tightened too tight, it stretches and will not work correctly.

i would try to use a tap that is the correct size to repair the threads, if worse comes to worse, you could drill out the threads and install a heli-coil or thread insert. also check to see if the bolt might be one time use only. specific bolts are meant to be stretched beyond its elastic limit.

most of the bolts that are used for the brake calipers once streched at the threads are done with. you can try a new bolt. some trucks have a replacable pilot or guide assembly so if you strip it out you can replace it with out having to replace the caliper.

When I pulled the bolt out there were metal shavings in the threads, and i could see that the bolt was just turning in the threads because you could see the end of the bolt on the back face of the caliper. I think I might go the heli coil route.
