No, you don't have to take the dash apart. On the passenger side under the dash the first panel you have to remove is a cover just put there for appearance sake. It looks like a square cake pan made out of black plastic. Then, on the left side under the dash, next to the engine cover there will be another cover that comes off with 4 screws. After removing the hoses from the engine compartment side and removig the access panel the heater core and related seal can be removed from that left side. It's held in with a metal bracket....best of luck

I have now been working on my core replacment for two days. I have NO panel on the left side. I had my computer that was under the black plantium but I can not get to the core. I have Fuel Injection and a 1988 or 89? I have remove the cover(decrative) and then the Computer that was under the black plastic case. But no way to get to the core. No screws on the side toward the engine compartment. I have removed the three screws on the left side which goes through the fire wall and one on the right side but I think there is one on at the top which I can NOT get to. HELP??? I'm confused..
