I need to see if I can get help from a member that is close to Portland/Vancouver area to assist with putting my 48 Borg Warner T87 3 spd back together. It’s all clean with new bearings and synchros. I’ll give a fair price to some one with good knowledge of it and hopefully close by. Either that or it will have to sit for a while. Local trans shops want $600 for reassembly and I just can’t do that. Thanks.

I'm not that up on shop rates, but that seems to equate to about 4-1/2 hours.
I’ve looked at the blueprints and can’t figure out one area.I need someone that can put it back together reasonably inexpensive. Otherwise it’s sitting for at least a year. I have a major landscaping project to finish and two early Buick projects. If I can get someone to help put it together then I’ll finish it first. Otherwise it sits.

Yep got the manual, three little troughs about 3/16 x1 are supposed to be in place and held outward by spring clips then looks like a slider gear goes over the troughs. Can’t get it to work. I’m done trying to figure it out which is why I’m looking for someone that can put it together for me. I can reassemble the trans I just don’t know how these synchro blockers work.
Only 2 hard parts, need 2 sets of hands to mesh the main shaft alignment with the counter shaft, and two need to use really tacky grease to keep the roller bearings in place
Put the 3 "struts" into their slots on the inner hub, with a little oil to help them stay in place. Put the inner hub into the outer hub. then put the springs in.
Well I found a guy local to me that had been doing transmission work for years. He’s retired and doing occasional work in his home shop. Also has some early Ford and other brand overdrive transmissions already rebuilt for sale. So it cost me $150 versus the 5or6 hundred quoted by the local shops. Now I’m getting ready to put the engine and trans back in. Did a little engine and compartment detailing but have to wait a little bit for an arm injury to heal. So it goes.
