hello guys ive finally got done with hip and spine surgery,im ready to tackle my 66 f100,so heres my question, someone will give me a 79 grand marquie ,can i do a complete frame swap without alot of fab work,im doing ok now but i cant do any major crazyness for awhile, this seems to me if itll work to solve my brake and power steering issues ,good thing is motor and trans are already out of car, plus theres a fresh 302 block sitting in a box he said i can have,no idea what to do with it,let me know guys i want to start in a week or so,thank u
sorry about that im new here and trying to get as much info as i can in the short window i have,so frame thing would be alot of work, how about the steering column, gear, and pump
rags712 no problemo.i think that it all would be a lot of work. maybe you could sell the Grand Marquie and look for a Crown Vic. instead. i don,t know if there is any difference between the Grand and the Crown, but would think that there would be. i have never heard of the Grand swap, but the Crown has been done by just about everybody and their brother.
Almost all of the swaps I researched before doing mine were 2003-2011 panther platform, Crown vics, Grand Marquis, and I believe the town cars. I used a 2005 grand Marquis.
I did a suspension swap, wheel to wheel with the rack and pinion attached and it was a lot of work. If you do a full frame swap you'll need to do a lot of fab work on the cab for body mounts.
If you're not 100% healthy you should have a friend help you out.
