backing plate
whats my options if my rear drum backing plate is grooved on my 1977 f150 4wd 4.9l

Are you saying your rear brake drums have grooves?

How bad?
Got any pics?

If not too bad, I have just put on new brake shoes. They will wear to the grooves anyway.

If grooved on the pads the shoes slide on you could mig weld it up and grind it smooth.

That's what I do, except with an oxyacetylene outfit. Old school welding since I don't have a mig.
