Replacing parking brake backing plate
I've had some squealing coming from the rear. Pulled the rotors to turn off a small lip on the outer edge. Left rear parking brake shoe was pulled from the backing plate, keeper and pin were lodged in the upper retract spring. Closer look reveals the backing plate has rusted through and the p brake shoe is sitting cockeyed with nothing to hold it in position. Pax side is sound but the drivers side needs replaced. It looks like a complete hub removal to accomplish it. Anybody ever do this and happen to have torque specs on the reassembly. Is the backing plate a dealer part only or is there an aftermarket option. Ford parts shows a $260 price tag for the plate which seems extreme for what I'm looking at unless it is part of the larger assembly. Does the p brake actuator arm come pre installed on the backing plate. Hints or cautions are appreciated. I hate dealing with the springs and adjusters on drums. Everything seems to move and shift when you try and pry the springs back into position.
