I recently picked up a project truck, a 1981 F100 Custom, and for some reason both shoulder belts were cut. I have no idea why you would do that. Anyhow, replacement sets online are all $200 or more. So, I'd like to go down to the local Pick n Pull and grab a set. Problem is that I can't find a nearby lot with an 80-86 F100. What I want to know is if a wider range of F100s or F150s have belts with the same mounting configuration (or at least can be made to work without serious metal fabrication). Any help?
For OE seat belts you'll be limited to searching salvage yards for 80-86 F series pickups. You might look at the E series vans as well. In 1987 the seat belt tensioner design changed. Good luck in your search!
There is another consideration with aftermarket belts. I bought a set from LMC. They don't have the wiring for the fasten seatbelt light.
I changed mine out simply because the lock up didn't seem to be working. But after I got them out and tugged on them, it seems to be working now. Maybe it's just wore out. Who knows.

IIRC the lock up work by a weight that moves forward like in a sudden stop.
So just pulling on them will not lock them up but tilt it a little to the front and it should lock up.

Does it really make a difference on the seat belt lights? they only lit up for a few seconds anyway.
Not like new cars that annoy you if don't buckle them. I suppose it's good info to know but I think most of us ignore/pay little attention to that light.
Or remove the bulb hah
