I'm the original owner of a 2004 Excursion (Diesel, 4WD, tow package, Eddie Bower Trim, etc). Recently the windshield sprayer stopped working - both front and rear. Fluid in system, and no pump noise when activated. My first thought was to check the fuses, but looking in the owners manual I don't see a listing for the windshield sprayer (only the wiper - which works). Looking under the hood I was also hard pressed to find where the spray motor was located without pulling a bunch of stuff out....so before going on a wild chase I thought I'd come here first and ask. And while I'm at it, is there an on line electronic shop manual somewhere?
I've had chipmunks/squirrels chew thru the fluid line twice, once when parked for a week at a campsite, and again a couple years ago in the driveway.
They did it again at the vacuum line for the heater vent actuator.
Fixed the line and problem solved each time.
Turned out to be a bad pump. Thanks to alloro for the wiring diagram and pump location - that gave me confidence I wasn't on a wild goose chase when I pulled the passenger side battery and battery mounting plate so I could remove the spray reservoir (the pump is on the bottom of the reservoir). Voltage on connector, able to blow air through lines, obvious bad pump. Local auto parts store had one, but I feel like I got ripped off - $38 with tax.....I see them on amazon for $12.99. But hey, it is fixed.
