Randy, don't give up on your C8AE-H heads. They are very capable. Look at the Flow figures for the ported D2's- the D2TE-AA head has EXACTLY the same ports as your C8AE-H heads do. So if you ported them, you'd get the same results. Now look athe some of the heads you are comparing things too- the doves and the medium risers are usually thought of as 427 only, because the big 2.19/1.73 won't fit the smaller bores. And keep in mind the edelbrock heads everybody is running are 'Brock's 3 rd design.....the first 2 E-brock designs made less power than- are you ready- ported C8AE-H heads. Other than saving a bit of weight, I really don't think aluminum heads are worth the money. You can get equal performance, or better, by porting out a set of iron heads. If you are going to put them on a 390, you should have the 2.09/1.65 valve sizes put in. Run hard seats under the exhaust. If you want them ported by someone who knows what he is doing, look up Dennis Carrico. I think he is out west somewhere....He has a web site, DSC Motorsprt, with prices and such. DF
I have a set of D2TE-AA heads also, which one would you consider to be better. Also the ported D2TE-AA have the 2.90 and 1.73 valves. Does anyone know what they would flow with CJ valves?
the CJ's are 2.09 intake and 1.66 exhaust. As I understand it. the Dove use the 2.19 intake and 1.73 exhaust valves. they will only work with the 427 (4.23")or 428 bore (4.13").Someone correct me if I am mistaken.
Hrm, I recall having bigger valves than that...
Hrm... they are c8ae-h heads
may not be stock valves tho...
But then again I may be wrong :P lol
thanks for the information either way
Nothing , I just happen to have some laying around. It's just cheaper to put CJ valves in them and have them ported than buying new edelbrock's or Dove's. Just trying to get enough info to get the most bang for my buk..
