Hey guys just wanted to let you know, I just got my 3rd truck in of the past 4 months. Picked up a 78 150 w/8ft stepside, 302 3spd. Went out today and got the front end off, doors, cab unbolted and ready to get all the other little stuff I need before she hits the scrap yard. Also I might have lined up a 78 150 w/300 auto in it. Started up and ran smooth, doors didnt look too bad as well as the front clip. Just thought I would let you guys know I'm stayin busy of course!!!
My fault fellas, I got all excited talking about my trucks, and I forgot to ask my question. What's the highest number of trucks you have bought within a 6 month period(No replies from dealers please )?
Guy,
I buy trucks, not parts trucks? Are you scrapping these trucks?
Scrapping a truck is a BAD thing. What's your story?
Why are you buying trucks?

Ya I usually get em and part them out. Trust me the trucks I deal with arent your top of the line highboys. They have seen there fair share of time. I get all the parts that I need or could sell and then scrap them. Usually just the frame is left. But this last one the bed is going too, its way too rotted to do anything with. Also I just came across a 78 F-100 longbed with a 300 auto in it. Prolly gonna pick it up for like 150bucks. Motor runs strong. Bed is also pretty rotted out.
At the beginging of summer, I purchased 2 trucks, was given a truck, a bronco, and an Expedition, all with in a 45 day period.
1977 F-150 4x4(free) rotted, but had black interior and ran, was so bad that the cab needed only 1 little cut with the sawsall in order for it to be pushed off.
1977 F-150 4x4 (200) bed shot, cab and clip good. Good running 351M and 4spd. Good truck, no title.
1979 F-150 4x4 shortbed (800). minor rust, good running 400, auto, with Meyer 8' power angle plow. Needs valve cover gaskets and vavle seals. Drivin it now.
1978 Bronco 4x4 (200) bought basicly for title. Truck is junk.
1998 Expedition EB, wrecked, bought to fix and sell.
I bought the first truck around June 15th, and the last 1 I picked up was the Expedition on July 20th.
Very impressive 79, sounds like we more or less do the same thing. I find it more economical to buy the trucks cheap, or get them for free and get the parts I need, or might need in the future, instead of waiting and paying outrageous prices for a piece here or there. Our barn looks like a Ford truck graveyard, LOL. Goodluck with those, and keep up the good work!
Parts trucks are the way to go. I get my money back by clipping the frame rails just behind the front suspension and making a trailer out of the back half. Lots of folks like such trailers ('specially people with purty SUVs they can't haul trash in), and they take only a few hours to make.
