unplug gauge cluster
hey guys the gauge cluster on my 95 f250 is just shot so i was THINKING about making a custom cluster. i know researched it before a little and i think someone said that there is a wire somewhere behind the gauge cluster that tells the alternator to charge the system? is that right? or what would happen if i just unplugged the whole gauge cluster and just not use the old connectors.

Turn the key on but do not start the engine. If you have a little battery symbol light that lights up in the dash, that will need to be hooked up to charge. You also may have a PSOM module with your speedometer. You will need to keep this also, it takes the raw speed sensor signal and conditions it, and then sends it to the speedometer and the engine computer for speed information. I think it also goes to the cruise control and the ABS system.
