ingnition removal

I have a 1985 F-150 xlt. The ignition switch in my truck broke and it needs replaced. I bought a new switch but I am unsure how to get the old one out . Any help would be a big help

Remove the steering wheel. Turn the ignition to the acc. position.
Inside the steering column you will see a small pin hole next to the ignition lock. Press the ball in the pin hole while pulling on the key.

Are you talking about the ignition switch or the lock cylinder? (the thing you put the key into) Either way you don't have to remove the steering wheel. To replace the ignition switch, remove the 4 bolts that hold the steering column up. Unplug the connector and remove the two bolts and note where the switch is lined up. Put the new switch in place and then bolt it on and plug in the connector. It may take some fine tuning to get it like it's supposed to be, but it's no big deal. Bolt the steering column back up and bam, your done.

The problem is fixed . I replaced both the switch and the lock cylinder. Took about an hour but no problems. Thanks for all the help!
