The Explorer package is a trim level, its below the Ranger is cost but there are add on options and stuff, generally the Explorers were pretty cheap.

The 400 puts out roughly 280 HP and over 350 lb/ft. of torque at a frighteningly low rpm.

Give us some 73-9 freaks some details, 2wd or 4x4 manual or auto, condition, color, stuff like that. Congratulations on the truck and you are relatively new still so a Welcome to FTE is ok.

Ha Ha !

Good leg pull Matt

The 79 400 put out 148 Hp

The Explorer trim can be viewed on several threads in this forum.

Just search for *Explorer* in the 73-79 forum .

The Ranger Trim is all cosmetic.
The Custom was the lowest and usually came with a Rubber Mat.
Explorers had carpet.

Go to my website and havea look around on the Index page and you'll find the photos & description's.
