Hi guys new here and new to diesels. Bought my truck used 2015 6.7l w 86k on it. Ive been back to the dealership 4+ times all emissions problems. I dont tow often and its not ran often since i have a work truck. Id like to do a delete/tune but leave everything stock just to avoid inspection etc. Is there a way to do so to just get away from these stupid DEF EGR constant problems?
Simple answer. NO. Dpf has to come off, or hollow the canister out but that would be quite the task. EGR can stay on but must be unplugged at minimum. My state has a no inspection law any commerical vehicle over 10k gvw. Check your local laws

You bought a used truck so you have no idea how the previous owner drove the truck. 86,000 miles is a lot for a 15. How many idle hours are on the truck? So far the dealer has fixed all the problems with the emission system. 4 visits, were they all for the same thing? It will be more involved than to just unplug the EGR. You will need to purchase a tune to shut off the EGR. If it ain't broke why throw more money at it. Dealer is fixing it for free right? if not he should be.

I'm gonna delete because I do slow speed (ranch) driving and a lot of idling because it's 114 degrees out here with a feels like of 153. I want that AC blowing.
Welcome to FTE forum and welcome to the club of 6.7 Powerstrokes. Use the search feature here to search for the threads that are already here on your truck losing weight. If you keep the EGR cooler on, you will need a partial plate kit that replaces the OEM pipe that feeds the cooler with exhaust gases.
If you remove the cooler, you will need the full EGR d****e kit that provides the plates that block the coolant passages once the cooler is removed.
If you do the basic job, plate kit, SCT x4 tuner with 0 hp tune or a low hp tow tune, straight pipe to replace DPF with an optional muffler and use the factory tailpipe, you should be around 1000 bucks give or take.
I haven't done it but that's just from being on this site. If I'm wrong, someone who has done it will chime in.
If you don’t have inspection/emission renewals, just delete and put a big Donaldson under there with the same factory tips. 0hp or small tow tune, you will have to try really hard to see any smoke. Nothing like a tow tune on 7.3 if you mashed you could fill the intersection. I went with Donaldson and fte resonator it is basically just as quiet as stock. This works for me. Search up some threads you will be in for some reading.
Fuel economy gains are still there. Less restriction on exhaust, better flow and more efficient performance. No more exhaust fluid. No more 10mpg regens.
If it wasn't for the back forth on the warranty void debate I would have deleted it all long ago. Just waiting to hit 100k.
Any fuel economy gains from a delete or only longevity? I have read that the newer 6.7 don't realize and gains from deleting.
First I have heard on the lack of fuel economy gains. Not sure that makes sense though. I agree with Alleydog so I would think that fuel econ is better but I also know that I didn't buy the PSD for its great fuel mileage ratings. If longevity is the only benefit I'm good with just that. I'm keeping my current F350 for the long haul.
I sold, sort of, my '15 F250 to my Son-In-Law just before hitting 100k miles. Now he is looking at doing the full delete. That truck was my 70 mile daily driver so the miles racked up pretty quick. My F350 just doesn't fit into the parking garage at work so it sits in my drive and is just used for towing my 5er mostly. When that hits 100k I will delete it.
For most the delete is cheaper than the repair. I saw around 14% or 1.6 mpg gain if I recall correctly. The biggest gain I have seen for fuel is to drive 50-55mph vs 85mph
