F53 brake help please
It has a 1999 F53 chassis.
OK ... never did this before.
So, I did some research and have a few questions.
1) What is the correct part numbers for the rotors,(front and back), pads (front and back), gaskets and seals for rear? I see several listed .. I have an axle code of 75 and the parking brake is on the drive shaft not on the axle.
2) does it matter what rotors I buy (autozone, rock auto had several, ...)?
3) what special tool do I need for the rear bearings ?
4) how much do I torch them down ? How much do I back them off (youtube said 7 clicks)?
5) Anything special I need to know? I have done cars and trucks but never anything this big.
I got a quote of $1800 from my mechanic ... ouch! I am thinking $800 in parts ... that is a big difference in my wallet!
A diagram would help .. found one but it had the brake in the hubs, not like mine.
Thanks .... Mike
Also, I just realized I need to know how to set the front bearings also ... are they the same as the back (? torque then 7 clicks back or ???? .... I can't find a video of the front adjustment).
Also need the torque spec on the rotor bolts.
Thanks ... Mike
Guess that is what you get for living in a rural State (only 600,000 people in the entire State ... Largest city 42,000).
Any advice on a manual?
I want to see how to set the bearings in both the front and back hubs and the torque spec on the bolts holding on the rotors.
Thanks .... Mike
