So I have had my truck for a couple of months now and I recently noticed that my odometer is losing miles now I don’t mean it’s not tracking them because it is for an example I left home this morning at 293,997 miles got to my shop and it showed 294,000 miles shut the truck off an when I started it 20 minutes later it was showing 293,996 miles I have searched high and low and can’t find anything on my problem has anyone else had this issue and if so how did you fix it any help is welcome
It was a long time ago, but want to say look at fuse #11, That circuit is loosing power for a short time. Did you notice the transmission shifts being extra firm? Also, has your O/D switch been coming on by itself?
No hard shifts no random overdrive light but fuse 9 for the power point will randomly lose power but that is because the fuse terminal got stretched by previous owner
Have you scanned for codes? I mentioned the fuse because many of the people leasing, installed a switch to cut the power on the number 11 fuse after it was started, this would stop the speedometer from counting miles. Like I said, it was years ago, I think different years had a different fuse to cut power on. I wish you luck on your problem, If I remember anything else I will PM you.
I have scanned for codes an it is not showing any but the scanner I have right now will only show me basic codes as for switches there are several that are installed but none of them are hooked up anymore and the speedometer/odometer counts up but randomly dumps when I shut the truck off
My truck has 450,000 miles on it. When it was at 399,99.9. it flipped over to 300,000. 100,000 miles disappeared. I've never heard of the issue before and have no idea what caused it.
I’m not loosing that many miles I tend to lose miles on trips around 10 miles or less like yesterday for example I made several 4 mile trips from home to a store it would clock it till I turned off the truck then when I started it again those 4 miles were gone like I never drove it

This is normal. There is no “4” programmed in the odometer
