Hey everyone, I am rebuilding a 49 F1. Can anyone out there recommend a good shop that does engine and transmission work in the Seattle area. I am coming up empty in my searchs. Thanks a bunch.
I would contact the local Early Ford V8 Club for recommendations, if your drivetrain is stock. They'll know who is familiar with flatheads. It's a good club to join, too, not expensive and they have a really nice monthly magazine full of info and pictures.
Hope you find something close to Seattle but if you can't, research Fraser Valley Engine and Machine in Abbotsford, B.C. It is only a two-hour drive and they have done many flatheads. They did my 1949 F1 last year. Abbotsford is immediate across the border from Sumas, Wa. It wouldn't hurt that your dollar is worth almost a third more up here.
I asked about this same thing a while ago here. I ended up going with the Napa/ Westbay shop in Bremerton. They have my block and head and rotating parts for my 226. I will report back when it is done. The head machinist has been there over 30 years and has done many flatheads.
