Doors

I had a little time today. Got a few things done on the truck. Defrost hoses on. Glove box in. Glove box out to put hinges for glove box door on. Glove box in. Glove box out when defrost hose fell off. Defrost hose back on, glove box back in.

Thinking about the doors. Right now I have the hinges mounted to the doors off of the truck. To reinstall, I think I need to take hinges off the doors, bolt the hinges to the cab, then slide doors back on hinges and bolt them on, glue the new door seals in place and then check doors to align them. Does this sound like the correct procedure?

Put seat in truck to see where a good spot for the new kill switch would be. There is a 1” hole on the floor u der the driver side seat. Might use that for the switch. I hate to cut a hole through the floor. I’d like to put it on the floor beside the driver seat and the door butnthat us where the gas tank is underneath. Could put it between passenger side and door but then have to go lay across seat or walk around truck to turn on it off.

Not mounting the doors or mounting the seat until I have the dash back together. I think it will be easier to work on the dash with seat out and doors off.

It sounds like you're getting good at putting the glove box in! It never fails, does it? It's always something.

The sounds good but make sure you have a helper to slide the doors unto the hinges or use a floor jack.

BUT..... PUT THE RUBBER WEATHERSTRIP ON THE DOORS AS THEY LAY ON A TABLE OR SAW HORSE!!! Then put the doors on the truck.

Thats a good idea.
See above in red. Good luck.

Still need to order the door seal retainer (metal strip to place over seal at bottom of door).

Also need to get skirt seal and cab skirt retainer.

I got my cab skirt retainer made at a local sheet metal place. Do you have part of the old one? They can copy it. And it's the same thing as the hood to radiator rubber deflector holder. It's just C-shaped.

I do not have any part of the retainer left. I did order the rubber for the hood to radiator, but no retainer. I will need to get that too.

Absolutely put that weatherstripping on first before mounting the doors. Do not wait.

Probably overkill with the tape, but hopefully the rubber seal stays in place.

Yeh, that's overkill. You used 3M black adhesive, right? You probably didn't need any tape. Did you squeeze the door bottom retainer on to the rubber? You should be OK.

Aren't you glad you did it with doors off the truck?

i prefer to hang and adjust the doors with no rubber so I'm not fighting to get the door to fit. Then install door rubbers. Not a big deal to put them on the doors with the doors on the truck

My doors are on the truck and I've been dreading the job of installing the door rubbers. Every time I've used the 3M adhesive it's gotten all over everything. Does anyone have some tips regarding how to apply it without making a big mess?

Yea it’s measy stuff. Put painters tape on edges that u don’t want covered. That way if it oozes where it is. It suppose to be, at least I can pull the tape up pretty easily

When i did my doors, I would do a short section with the glue at a time. There was no way I could glut the whoe thing at once. Worked well
