I just picked up a bunch of 10W-30 at and auction - with the plan to start using it. I really could not find any "opinions" of this stuff while searching....so what is the general opinion on this, especially in my 460?
I've never run a synthetic or blend before in my engine.
Thanks.
I ran Syntec 10-30 in my last truck (96 F150 302 4X4) for only 205,000 no problems. When I traded the truck did not use oil between changes. I used 5,000 mile changes. A friend of mine uses the Syntec with 10,000 mile changes his 97 F150 he has 220,000 on the truck and is happy with the oil.
You don't see too much commenting on Syntec here. Both my vehicles are tight and I don't lose oil between changes now, but I hear horror stories of guys switching to synthetic and start losing massive amounts of oil. I was hoping a synthetic blend might be the key.
My buddy had a 99 Sunfire with about 80K on it, very tight. Switched to Mobil 1, now he loses about 3/4 quart every 1000 miles! He was jacked. He now switched back to dino but same results.
What I want to know is why Castrol Syntec is always comparing there oil to conventional oil in those TV commercials? If it is a synthetic oil, then why not compare it to another synthetic oil?Are they scared it might fail,or not be as good?
